Our Team

Sharon Zohar
Editor
Sharon’s career began at Random House and Penguin Books, where she developed a deep appreciation for the power and magic of words. Since October 7th, Sharon has devoted herself to advocating against hateful incitement and promoting civility and inclusivity in her communities. She founded the grassroots movement enoughto.ca to champion these values. ‘Proof of Life’ is her passion project, inspired by her personal poem that serves as the anthology’s title piece. Originally from Rehovot, Israel, Sharon now resides in Toronto with her husband and two daughters.

Rochelle De
Illustrator
Born and raised in Toronto, Ontario, Rochelle is a public high school teacher, working with students on the autism spectrum. After the birth of her second child and the traumatic events of Oct 7th, she turned to her first passion of visual art as a therapeutic outlet to process and express her thoughts and emotions. She explores the themes of collective trauma, grief, pride, jewish joy and humour. You can view more of her illustrations on instagram @mighty.matzoball
She was honoured to illustrate Proof of Life, to help elevate the powerful words and experiences of her local and global jewish community.

Alex D Duchêne
Designer
Originally from Montreal, Alex is an accomplished Creative Director and Visual Artist with over twenty years of experience in her field.
As a ferocious child reader and young poetry writer, she has also always had a obsession with books. Later, that obsession transcended into book design.
Immediately after October 7th, poetry and writing became Alex's most prominent creative outlet. When she was asked to be the designer on this project, it felt like perfect synchronicity. She is honoured to be part of this team.
